I am Sherard Little, a true lover of the art of photography and the instrument of the craft – the camera. This love emerged from the simple gift of a Kodak digital camera – a hand me down from my dad. Instead of taking random shots, I sought perfect shots – those that captured the emotions of a moment, happy or sad, in the most creative way. Scuba diving deepened my love for the art. Aquatic life was so fascinating that I wanted to capture its awe and beauty to share with my family and friends. This occasioned my investment in a Sea and Sea underwater camera, my first film camera.
To free my mind from the stresses of my other love and profession, Medicine/ Cardiothoracic Surgery, I often venture into nature for inspiration. I stare at the majestic night sky, admire lion fishes and trek to forgotten waterfalls. More recently, I have become enchanted by the simplicity of monochrome and its ability to capture the emotions in portraits and landscapes.
I honed my natural skills through formalized training at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts under the guidance of renowned Jamaican photographer Donnette Zacca.
Photography has now been woven into the fabric of my life. My family and I love the adventure of scoping out new locations and occasions. Living on a beautiful island like Jamaica facilitates this, as there is always a “spot” or a “moment” to capture.
